Redd Head: Fly Fishing and Running

What is Operation POW?

Answer: Operation POW is an endeavor to explore the myriad streams and rivers of the emerald isle otherwise known as Prince of Wales Island for relatively untouched Steelhead. Team POW hopes to document the event and to share the event with all and therefore  a website is needed. Not only will this page provide documentation of the expedition but it will also serve as a depot for informational sources pertaining to steelheading on POW.

I hope anyone endeavoring to fish the remote waters of the island will find this a useful source or even an inspiration for future adventures.

Until further notice,

ReddHead

Sources

I plan to start filling this with sources about fishing on the island and places to contact. Presumably by the end I will have a semi-formal guide to fishing on the island.

The Cast and Crew:

San Q:

Picture
Towering above the rest of the gang San Q is the most technology savvy member of the crew and a aficionado on fishing the southwest region of Alaska . He takes a mean photo, casts way to far, is the progeny of the lady below, and still won't forgive me for catching the same Steelhead after he lost it. I should also mention that San Q and I have been best friends since 2nd grade and cut our fly fishing teeth together. He has always been the brainy and pragmatic moderating force of our gruesome twosome.

Susie (Unofficial at this point)

Picture
Susie is the eldest member of our team which means she is the wisest member. A joker at heart, she is a relentless fisher, loves a double shot short latte, plays a mean practical joke, and is a super chef. In short, Susie is biologically the mother of San Q but in a lot of ways is my surrogate mother. Susie was a late comer to the sport of fly fishing, begrudgingly at first, but really has owned the sport. We have fished many places together and there has never been a dull moment, with her passion and devotion every trip is a great experience. Did I mention that she is a great cook?
